Academy round-up

We take a look at what has been happening in the academy…

Under 19s vs Notts County

Chesterfield Under 19s played out a routine 2-0 win over Notts County.

After dominating heavily in the first half, it seemed almost impossible that the two sides were even at the break. Wood, Hall and Derrett all had major chances to score but the final touch was missing.

Geeves broke the deadlock on the 58-minute mark to fire the young Spireites ahead. After shining in a midweek match against Sheffield FC, it was the least that the youngster deserved.

Wood (72) then doubled Chesterfield’s lead, capitalising on a miscommunication between goalkeeper and defender.

With the ball loose, and the Notts players frozen, Wood was free to roll the ball home to consolidate the win.

Geeves and Wood’s goals meant the Spireites recorded their first win of the season in the National League U19 Alliance. They find themselves in fourth place after two games.

Under 17s vs Boldmere St. Michaels

Chesterfield Under 17s dominated from start to finish in a 6-2 victory over Boldmere St. Michaels.

A hat-trick for Torres, alongside goals from Cook, Simpson and White, meant that the young Spireites progress to the next round of the League Cup.
