Academy’s pre-season tour of Scotland – day three

Monday was the academy’s first day of training at the exclusive Stirling University Sports Centre, where they did on and off the pitch training, including high-performance testing.

After the 1-1 draw with Dundee, the U18s took on last year’s Under 18s CAS Under 18s Elite League title winners, who lost only lose twice in 27 games to edge Rangers to the title.

The Hibs side contained Scotland internationals and proved to be a good test for the young Spireites.

In an even first half, Hibs took the lead on 32 mins after a defensive error allowed the striker to get in and score.

On 44 minutes, the home side extended their lead with both full-backs linking up well together to make it 2-0.

In the second half, the Young Spireites were the better side and created a host of chances.

In the 85th minute, Hibs delivered the killer goal as they caught Chesterfield pushing forward for a goal on the break to make it 3-0.

Target man Torres (89) pulled a goal back for the young Spireites with a superb free kick to score his second goal of the tour and round off an excellent individual performance.

The young Spireites lost their first game of the tour, but they put put on a very encouraging performance to build on against the Scottish youth champions.
