CEO John Croot has praised the 5,800 Chesterfield supporters who made the trip to Chelsea on Saturday and helped to make it an occasion to remember.
The vocal support provided throughout the 90 minutes impressed supporters of the European champions, with many taking to social media to pay tribute to Spireites fans.
John said: “Our supporters were superb. To see the Shed End at Chslea full of Spireites was tremendous.
“The Chelsea fans next to me were saying that Premier League teams don’t get that support. They couldn’t really believe it, to be honest. They were amazed by it.”
While treasuring the memories of the trip to Stamford Bridge, John’s mind is now firmly fixed on the National League, with trips to Barnet and Maidenhead United coming up in the next seven days.
He said: “That’s always been our focus. Chelsea was a great distraction from the league but we’ve got to focus on promotion now and that’s where all our efforts will be aimed.
“We’ve now got to concentrate on the league and get back to EFL status.”
