Euro giants in entertaining draw at the Technique Stadium

Olympique de Marseille and Real Betis played out an entertaining 1-1 draw in a pre-season friendly at the Technique Stadium.

The first French Champions League winners boasted the likes of Dimitri Payet and Matteo Guendouzi in Igor Tudor’s strong side.

Betis, who were led by former Premier League winning manager Manuel Pellegrini, had Nabil Fekir, William Carvalho and Borja Iglesias at their disposal.

The first half was a very even affair with chances coming at a premium. Payet came close for Marseille with a free-kick that was well held by Rui Silver.

Betis started to find their feet a bit in the second period with the Spanish side coming inches away from breaking the deadlock.

Marseille finally broke the deadlock with around three minutes to go; Polish striker Arkadiusz Milik turned the ball home from close-range.

However, the lead didn’t last long. Rodri Sanchez powered a header past Simon Ngapandouetnbu into the back of the net before tempers flared.

Former Premier League referee Graham Scott calmed things down before blowing the full time whistle soon after.
