Jack Bingham

We are sad to hear that our former club chaplain, Jack Bingham, has passed away.

Jack was born in Blackwell and went to Saltergate from an early age. As a Methodist Minister, he first was chaplain at Stockport County. However, appointment at churches in Mosborough and then Bolsover allowed him to take up role at the club he supported, between 1986 and 1996.

He joked that he tried to dissuade couples from marrying too late on Saturday afternoons so he could make matches! He also stated that his Rothmans Football Yearbook came a close second to his bible.

Jack also provided temporary accommodation for several players including current chief scout Paul Lemon, who said: “Jack was a lovely gentleman who made me feel so welcome when I arrived in Chesterfield. I loved it at his house in Bolsover and he christened my son, Jordan.”

Our sincere condolences go to his family and those who remember him.
