James Rowe has made his first signing as manager of Chesterfield, recruiting in-form striker Akwasi Asante from his former club Gloucester City, subject to FA approval.
Commenting on the signing, which is for an undisclosed fee, Rowe said: “I’m delighted to bring Akwasi on board. His goalscoring record speaks for itself and he’ll be a real asset.
“His all-round play has improved since I first met him as a 17-year-old and I have no doubt that our supporters will enjoy seeing him play.”
Asante, who was born in the Netherlands, was with Birmingham City as a youngster.
He joined Gloucester in the summer after scoring 19 goals in 29 appearances for Chester last season.
The 28-year-old has scored eight goals in ten appearances this term.
