Spireites edged out at home

The Spireites were edged out 1-0 at the SMH Group Stadium at the hands of Derby County, in the final home pre-season fixture.

Will Grigg had an early chance for the Spireites from inside the box that was well saved by Josh Vickers

Derby were awarded a penalty in the fourth minute when Harry Tyrer brough down Max Bird in the box.

James Collins stepped up to take the penalty, but it was saved by Tyrer, diving to his left.

Derby had a great chance from a set piece when Eiran Cashin met the ball with his head, following a wide free kick, his header went wide.

The Spireites went into half time with the score locked at 0-0.

Approaching the hour-mark both teams were struggling to create any clear-cut chances.

Derby scored the winner in the 62nd minute. Collins rose inside the box and met a cross with his head from the right-hand side, which flew past Tyrer.

Dobra tested Vickers with a header, following a cross from Liam Mandeville, but his effort was caught.

Substitute Jeff King forced a good save from Vickers with a free kick from 30 yards out.

Grigg hit the target with a header at the back post, but his attempt was saved.
