Webb praises team following Cup victory

Spireites assistant-manager Danny Webb praised the side’s resilience and work ethic during an impressive 1-0 victory over Northampton Town in the Emirates FA Cup first round.

The Spireites took the lead in the 14th minute through Armando Dobra, who received the ball on the edge of the area, worked it onto his right foot and curled it into the top corner.

Webb said: “That’s the ultimate thing about the FA Cup, it is about the result, it’s the here and now. Obviously, you could say the same for league fixtures but with league fixtures you’re looking to maintain a certain level of performances to ultimately get you over the line.

“With the FA Cup it’s just a one off here and now, we have beaten a team in the league above – a very strong team by the way – and we are delighted with that.

“Ultimately it’s all about the results, I thought there were pleasing parts of our performance. We’re not overjoyed with the actual performance, but we’re certainly pleased with the result and resilience with set-pieces and open play.

“We kept going, I think some lads without picking people out, really ran their socks off and they always do, the boys, to be fair, they’re a great set of lads.”
