Young Spireites have chance to win National Finals

Chesterfield FC U10s are the next side with a chance to bring some more silverware back to the academy.

After an extremely successful league season and a victory against Soccer Hub FC in the regions, the U10s are off to the National Finals, where they will battle against North Somerset RTC, Pro Pathway, and Alfold FC.

The young Spireites will have an opportunity to make a statement, with a win over the three sides making them National Finals champions.

The U10s coach commended his players for their fantastic season so far, saying: “It’s all down to the desire and work rate of each and every one of them.

“We don’t give teams any time on the ball, we play some lovely football and many make comments about the way we play. The lads just work their socks off.

“They’ve earned it – where we’ve got to. Winning the league was a brilliant achievement.”

With three big teams to play in the National Finals, the coach was not fearful of the quality of player they may be facing.

“I’m really confident that we will go on and make Chesterfield proud,” he said.

“However good the team is that we have to face, we will look to outrun and outfight them. Even if we go behind in a game, our heads do not drop. So, I have no fear.

“I like to think that I instilled the work rate and attitude in the players. If you play for Chesterfield, you must put the effort in.

“They’ve taken everything on board, though. Some came to me with the tricks and skills, but not enough fight. Now they are all willing runners, fighting for each other.”

The U10s coach is excited to continue working with his team, and thanks the parents and carers that make this team possible.

“Hopefully, I keep all the same lads next season. I wouldn’t look to change a thing,” the coach stated.

“We have built something special. The desire and attitudes that I have instilled in them in great, and they’re a pleasure to coach.

“They’re growing into brilliant players, so I’m looking forward to U11s.

“And just a message from myself – a big thank you to the parents and carers. They are a great group, too.

“They just get on with whatever we need from them, helping and making sure we have enough players every week. We wouldn’t be anywhere without them.

“Finally, the lads deserve this opportunity. They have worked so hard all season. We just hope we can come back with a cracking result. Either way, it will be a good day out but we hope to bring back a result as well.”
