It’s sure to be an interesting selection for Paul Cook on Saturday, as some players will be knocking on the door for a start after two defeats on the bounce.

Danny Rowe could be set to make his first start since returning to action. The striker featured on the bench last time out and could be pushing for his starting place. While fellow strikers Tom Denton and Akwasi Asante will also be hoping they have done enough in training to be in the starting XI.

Gaving Gunning and Manny Oyeleke both managed to play the full 90 minutes last time out and they will be hoping that they are both deemed fit enough to start against Torquay.

Meanwhile, Nathan Tyson, Joe Rowley and Jak McCourt will be hoping they have impressed the gaffer in training over the past few days to earn their place in the squad.

On Torquay

Torquay United have a long history of playing in the English Football League before they were relegated to the National League in 2014. They spent four years in the National League before being relegated to the National League South in 2018. They bounced back immediately after they were crowned champions of the National League South in their first season.

Last season they reached the National League play-off final to battle it out with Hartlepool for promotion back to the Football League, where their goalkeeper scored an equaliser in the last minute of normal time before they lost on penalties.

This season Torquay currently sit in tenth place and they will be looking to finish the season strongly as they prepare to build for the next campaign.

One to watch

Connor Lemonheigh-Evans is a midfielder with an eye for goal. The Welsh 24-year-old spent time at Bristol City as a youngster and was then loaned out to Bath City, before making the move down to Torquay for an undisclosed fee. He has scored 15 goals in 62 appearances since joining the club.
