John Pemberton has dismissed any suggestion that Saturday’s FA Cup tie at Stockport County is a welcome distraction from the league.
Pemberton insists that the Spireites will be looking to bounce back following the midweek defeat at Wealdstone and won’t place any lesser importance on the match because it is in the Cup.
Speaking to the media ahead of the trip to Stockport, Pemberton said: “We want to win every football match, whether it’s the FA Cup, the league or whatever.
“The FA Cup is an important competition to us, especially for myself as I really enjoyed playing in it as a player but it’s important to everyone.”
Nathan Tyson was forced to go off early on in the Wealdstone match after suffering a dead leg and Pemberton is hoping that the experienced forward will be able to return on Saturday.
“He’s making progress and he may be back for the weekend,” said the Spireites boss. “We will just have to see how he is.”
