Manager prepares for “different type of challenge”

The Spireites travel to the EBB Stadium on Saturday to take on Aldershot Town in the Buildbase FA Trophy fifth round and James Rowe is ready for contest against his old club.

He said: “I’m sure it will be a different type of challenge in a cup game away from home on what looks like a scruffy pitch.

“We’re going to have to adapt and be ready for the battle that’s going to come. We’ve got to be organised; small details matter.

“You win this one, you are only two games away from Wembley, which is fantastic. Obviously, this year the semi-final is only one leg as well.

“We want to put smiles on faces and to get into the quarter-finals would do that without putting to much pressure on ourselves.

“My time at Aldershot was very successful and I learnt so much there. I have got great relationships them still, but make no mistake about it, I want Chesterfield to win tomorrow, 100 per cent. Everything will be going into winning.”

Striker Adi Yussuf signed on loan from Blackpool in midweek and Rowe is delighted to bring in a player he admires.

“We wanted to recruit anyway with Tom [Denton] still fit, so the necessity came a bit quicker with the injury,” Rowe said.

“We needed to recruit and Adi fits the profile that I like. He’s mobile, he’s aggressive and he showed that in the game against Wrexham.

“I know a lot about him and I know he has got a good relationship with Akwasi [Asante], so hopefully they can link up and not forgetting, we have Marcus [Dinanga] as well.”

Chesterfield will have to make changes for the game with players cup-tied and the gaffer knows that players require openings.

Rowe stated: “We’ve mixed it up in the last two games and it will be no different tomorrow. People need opportunities.

“They need to be match-fit, ready for the schedule coming up and the Trophy gives you an opportunity for players to come in who conducted themselves well in the Boston and Brackley games.

“Obviously Adi is cup-tied as well as Adam [Przybek], who played at Concord. Alex [Whittle] is also cup-tied.”
