On Boreham Wood

The club was founded back in 1948 and in recent years have seen a huge uplift in the club, rising up the non-league pyramid and now fighting to gain Football League status.

In 2014/15, Boreham Wood finished as runners-up in the Conference South. In the subsequent play-offs, they beat Havant & Waterlooville 4–2 on aggregate before defeating Whitehawk 2–1 in the final to earn promotion to the re-named National League.

They have been in the National League since and have endured several play-off campaigns but are yet to be successful.

This season Boreham Wood sit in fifth, just one point behind the Spireites. They will be looking to keep their momentum going and push for promotion this season to the Football League, whether that’s via the play-offs or automatically.

One to watch

Will Evans is no stranger to the Spireites, having played for the club for three seasons. He joined Boreham Wood at the start of the 2021/22 season after leaving Chesterfield. He famously went in goal and saved a penalty in the 3-3 draw with Ebbsfleet United. The centre-back has made 16 appearances this season and will be hoping to finally gain promotion back to the Football League. His former clubs include Swindon Town, Newport County and Aldershot Town.
