Comfortable victory for Spireites

Substitute Luke Rawson struck twice in a five-minute spell at the end of the match as the Spireites beat Woking 4-0 at the Technique Stadium. Tom Denton set Chesterfield on their way with an early goal with new signing Alex Kiwomya also on target.

John Pemberton made two changes to the line-up with Kiwomya and Jamie Sharman both starting. Another new recruit, Tyler Denton, was named among the substitutes. Scott Boden started his three-match ban and Josef Yarney dropped out of the squad.

Tom Denton struck in the fourth minute, getting on the end of a long throw from Jordan Cropper to head past keeper Craig Ross at the near post.

When the visitors threatened following a corner, Curtis Weston blocked a shot.

Weston was then involved at the other end, firing in a 25-yard effort which went just over.

There was a scare for the Spireites in the 13th minute when John Goddard found himself through on goal, but Sharman got in a vital block to deflect the ball wide.

Kiwomya did well on the right-hand side and squared to Jonathan Smith, who side-footed wide.

Goddard tried his luck with a long-range effort which was easily gathered by Kyle Letheren.

Letheren made a save to keep out a free-kick from Charlie Cooper and then produced a fine stop to thwart Kane Ferdinand in the closing stages of the half.

Smith fired over from distance after Tom Denton headed the ball into his path.

Tyler Denton came on as a 64th minute replacement for Milan Butterfield to make his Spireites debut.

Tom Denton went off in the 69th minute with Rawson taking his place.

Letheren was called into action to make a save from Jack Cook and he was also forced to turn away Max Kretzschmar’s low drilled cross.

Kiwomya looked to break into the left-hand side of the penalty area following a ball from Tyler Denton but Ross was alert to the danger and made an important block.

Rawson struck five minutes from time, swivelling to fire low past Ross inside the area after Mandeville’s cross was knocked down.

Kiwomya scored a third in the 87th minute, with a deft near-post finish after getting on the end of a low cross from Cropper.

Rawson scored his second of the match in the last minute, composing himself in the area before curling a low shot into the far corner of the net.
