Winger secured on loan

The signing of winger Dilan Markanday on a season-long loan from Championship side Blackburn Rovers has been confirmed.

Speaking about the move, he said: “I’m really excited; I can’t wait to get going in front of the fans.

“I’ve met all of the boys – they’re all top. It’s a really exciting time at the club and I can’t’ wait.”

Markanday started his career in the academy at Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur.

He made his first-team debut for the club in October 2021 in a Europa Conference League fixture against Vitesse – becoming Tottenham’s first British Asian and Indian player.

Markanday made the move to Blackburn in January 2022, scoring his first goal in a 4-0 Carabao Cup win over Hartlepool United.

In the second half of the 2022/23 season, Markanday spent time out on loan to Scottish side Aberdeen.

Throughout the three years he has spent at Ewood Park, the 22-year-old has scored five times in 35 appearances.

Markanday will be in contention to make his debut for the Spireites at Crewe Alexandra on Saturday.
