The Spireites have bolstered their defensive options after capturing the signing of Chey Dunkley, an experienced centre-back.
The 32-year-old started his career at Crew Alexandra, going through the academy from 2006 to 2010. He signed for Hednesford Town on loan in 2010 and made 18 appearances. After impressing in his loan spell, he was signed permanently by the club in the summer after being released by Crewe.
Dunkley made 68 appearances for Hednesford over two seasons, becoming a regular starter. He left the club to sign for then Conference Premier side Kidderminster Harriers.
It was successful spell for the 6ft 2’ defender, making 92 appearances and scoring 12 goals. After an impressive start to his final season with the club, Oxford United loaned the centre-half, with a player going in the opposite direction as part of the deal.
He spent two years at Oxford, making 78 appearances for the club, scoring seven goals in his time there. He helped them secure promotion to League One at the end of the 2016/17 season.
At the end of his contract with Oxford, Dunkley signed for Wigan Athletic and spent three seasons with the Latics, scoring 13 goals in 107 appearances.
In August 2020, Dunkley signed for Sheffield Wednesday and made 33 appearances for the Owls over two seasons, scoring two goals.
He was released at the end of his contract and agreed to join Shrewsbury Town on a two-year deal. He spent two seasons at the club, making 85 appearances and scoring nine goals in his time there.
Dunkley has joined the Spireites on a three-year contract.
