Watford Academy Player of the Year, 2017/18

The Spireites have bolstered their defensive options after capturing the signing of young left-back Lewis Gordon.

Gordon started his career at Watford, rising through the academy from 2009 all the way until 2018.

In March 2018, he signed his first ever professional contract with Watford after being named Academy Player of the Year. He went on to spend two years at the club but didn’t make a first-team appearance with the Hornets finishing 11th in the Premier League.

During his spell at Watford, he was loaned out to National League South side St Albans City, where he made seven appearances for the club and gained valuable first-team experience.

Gordon was released by Watford in June 2020.

Following his long spell at Watford, he signed for then Championship side Brentford in September 2020.

He made his first-team debut with a start in the FA Cup third round victory over Middlesbrough in January 2021. He was an unused substitute for the last four matches of that season.

During the following campaign, the defender made 32 appearances for Brentford’s B team, scoring one goal.

Following 70 appearances in the B team, he was released at the end of the 2021/22 season.

Gordon went on trial with Crystal Palace the following pre-season but ended up signing a professional contract with League One club Bristol Rovers.

He appeared regularly for the Pirates, making 73 appearances over two seasons.

He was well loved by the supporters of Bristol Rovers and seemingly made a big impact on them in his time there.

The left-back has also made appearances for Scotland U17s and U19s.

He joins the Spireites on a one-year contract, with an option for an additional year in the club’s favour.
