Summer signing Fraser Bryden sat down with the press to talk about what life has been like since moving to North Derbyshire.
After an impressive season last year in the Northern Irish Premiership, the Spireites’ number nine spoke on the value of having competition for places within the squad, “I have always had patience. Competition in the squad is vital. It makes everybody in the squad train that bit harder.
“Everyone in the squad is playing really well at the minute and we just have to be patient. I’ve had valuable minutes in the EFL Trophy games which have obviously led to me getting my first goal which is really important.”
Speaking on adjusting to League Two football, Bryden discussed the transition and his relationship with Paul Cook. He said: “I think the technical side of it is very similar, but the physicality is a lot more intense. It has been a good step up for me.
“I’ve just got to keep listening to what the gaffer instils in training and if I keep training well then I will be in the best condition to play well for him and the team”
After netting his first goal for the Spireites last week against Man City in the Jersey Mike’s Trophy, Bryden spoke on midweeks result and gave a small insight to his analysis of the game: “The game the other night against Port Vale was about working hard for the squad. I obviously never got any real chances apart from just before when I came off when I hit the side netting. As I have always said, the harder you work, the more chances will fall your way.”
Looking ahead to Saturday’s fixture away at Cheltenham, Bryden spoke on the morale of the squad and how preparation has gone, saying: “We are now six games unbeaten in all competitions which is really good and tomorrow is going to be a hard game as Cheltenham have started their season similar to us, so we know we are going to have to be at our best.
“The boys are all in a really good positive mindset at the moment and hopefully we can go down there tomorrow and pick up the three points.”
