Defender joins Spireites

The signing of Vontae Daley-Campbell on a one-year deal, with an option of a further year in the club’s favour, has been confirmed.

The full-back joins after impressing as a trialist in fixtures against Alfreton Town, Sheffield United and Derby County.

Daley-Campbell, who was most recently at Peterborough United, becomes the sixth signing of the summer.

Speaking to 1866 Sport, he said: “I’m delighted to finally get it sorted.

“It’s such a big club and a great platform for me. I’m buzzing to get it done.

“Since being on trial here, the gaffer and the staff have been fantastic with me and it just feels right.

“I’m excited to learn more about the town, the club and the supporters and really get involved.

“I just want to get going now, I’m ready for it.”

The 23-year-old came through the academies at Arsenal and then Leicester City, where he featured during the club’s 2020/21 FA Cup winning run.

He has also had stints at Dundee and Cardiff City as well as playing for England at U16, U17, U18 and U19 level.

“We’re pleased to have him,” Danny Webb said.

“He is a top lad and a very good player, who will provide good competition for the right-back position.”

The deal is subject to FA and Football League approval.
