Hat-tricks from Faye Delaney, Chloe Foster and Steph O’Brien helped the Spireites women progress to the third round of the Derbyshire Cup with a 12-0 win over Stanton Ilkeston on Sunday.
The win against Stanton Ilkeston extended the unbeaten run to three.
Chesterfield’s top scorer Foster, registered ten goals before the clash. Her four goals on Sunday, took her tally to 14 in all competitions.
Delaney’s hat-trick was the first of her career since making the jump from the youth development squad, a decision made by boss Andrea Parkinson.
Ella Davidson made her first competitive appearance, coming off the bench after half-time. Davidson had also previously worked with the first team during pre-season.
It took just four minutes for the Spireites to score their first goal. Harrison’s cross evaded both O’Brien and Delaney, however Clark was there to poke home.
The second goal would arrive four minutes later, Foster’s first chance was denied but she made no mistake on the follow-up as she tucked away the rebound.
The Spireites continued to dominate and a third goal soon followed. Player of the match Delaney scored on her debut after getting on the end of Kadi Townsend’s well-taken corner.
Set-pieces were not an issue for the Spireites, Townsend’s beautiful free-kick nestled its way in from a tight angle.
Confidence was in full flow and Chesterfield showed no signs of slowing down. O’Brien’s fantastic strike in the 33rd minute furthered their chances of a third round tie to make it 5-0.
Five minutes before half-time, Delaney would have her second of the day. A brilliant solo effort allowed Delaney to slot the ball past the keeper and into the bottom corner.
Chesterfield started the second half with equal intensity. Foster had her second of the day in the 50th minute, thanks to great link-up play from Graham.
Foster sealed her deserved hat-trick in the 71st minute when her run allowed her to twist and turn around the opposition defence before she confidently fired home.
Chesterfield remained firmly in control and O’Brien once again produced a fine finish from outside the box that passed over the keeper’s head.
Delaney would complete her hat-trick in the 73rd minute as she delivered an audacious chip that looped over the keeper to make it 10-0.
Two minutes later and the Spireites would have their 11th goal of the match and a fourth for Foster.
O’Brien rounded off a fantastic display for both herself and the team as she notched her third of the game.
