The sad news reaches us that former Spireites keeper Glan Letheren has passed away at the age of 68.
Glan joined the club from Leeds United in 1977 and spent two years at Saltergate before being sold to Swansea City.
His son, Kyle, also a goalkeeper, had a spell with Chesterfield after signing in 2020.
Glan turned his attention to goalkeeper coaching after retiring from playing, setting up TopCatch Goalkeeping.
In interviews conducted by the club, Glan reflected fondly on his time at Chesterfield. He attended a Goalkeepers of Chesterfield FC event organised by the Community Trust in 2018, joining Gordon Banks, Jim Brown, Steve Cherry and Chris Marples (Glan is far right in the photo).
We send our sincere condolences to Glan’s family and friends at this time.
