It was with great sadness that the club learned of the passing of supporter Glynn McKenzie at the age of 79.
Glynn started supporting the Spireites from the age of 11 and was a main contributor to the Junior Spireites, designing the club badge featuring the Crooked Spire and a football.
He was an ardent supporter, travelling with his friends to many away matches. He was very proud when his grandson Dan played for the Chesterfield academy.
Glynn was a car salesman until his retirement at the age of 67, when he still continued collecting and delivering lease cars.
A very proud dad, grandad and great-grandad, he passed away on New Year’s Day after a short illness. He will be remembered as being a big character at matches, with a big voice!
Glynn’s funeral will be held at Brimington Crematorium at 12.45pm on Friday, January 30. Before then, he will make his last appearance at the club at 12.25pm. Everyone is welcome to attend. After the funeral, a celebration of Glynn’s life will be held at the SMH Group Stadium.
