International striker joins Spireites

Northern Ireland international striker Lee Bonis has today joined the Spireites for an undisclosed fee from Dutch club ADO Den Haag, with the signing subject to international clearance.

Bonis, who played in his home country for Portadown and Larne, moved to the Netherlands last summer and scored 11 goals in 35 appearances last season.

After agreeing to sign for Chesterfield, Bonis said: “It’s great to be a part of the club. I think a new start in England will be good for me.

“I can’t wait to play in front of the fans. I’m excited to get going.”

The 25-year-old made his international debut last October, coming on as substitute in Northern Ireland’s draw with Belarus in Hungary.
