“It’s important for us to keep our feet on the ground”

Assistant manager Danny Webb spoke with the media ahead of Saturday’s home fixture against Wealdstone.

He began by reflecting on our dramatic win over FC Halifax Town earlier in the week, saying “Obviously it was fantastic to get the three points on Tuesday, that’s the important thing but we will stay level-headed.

“We want to win as many games as possible but our home games are vital if we want to achieve anything this season.

“We found a way to win again and that’s what good teams do; they find a way to win even when things aren’t going their way.

“It was important to pick up all three points but now our attention quickly turns to Wealdstone and Tuesday is behind us.”

Danny then commented on the start to the season. “We’re very happy with the opening stage of the season, I think it’s gone very well,” he said. “However, it’s exactly that, just the start.

“We have to stay level-headed which the lads know by now because we’ve been in this position before.

“It’s important for us to keep our feet on the ground and remember this is only the start.

“We’re looking to win promotion but we’re well aware there’s a seriously long way to go.”

Looking at Saturday’s opponents, Danny added: “Let’s be real, there’s no team into his division that you think you can just turn over anymore.

“It’s a very competitive league and Wealdstone are a very good side. They play some lovely football and their manager is very good at what he does there, it’s a good set-up for what they do.

“We certainly won’t under-estimate them; they can cause you real problems.

“We’ll be focusing on us mainly though, if we turn up and play how we can, we’ll win the game.”
