The Spireites are set to return to pre-season training on Sunday and will also be heading out to Portugal for a pre-season training camp next week.
Mike Jones told us about his excitement for the upcoming season as well as talking about why he believes pre-season is so important.
He said: “I always look forward to pre-season, I’m excited to get back to it.
“Over a month off is a really long time without football despite the fact it does go by so quickly.
“I really want to come back now; it’s going to be hard but we get long enough off to put the work in as soon as we get back.
He touched on what he makes of pre-season and the running, saying: “It’s fair to say I’m itching to get back; the running is tough but it has to be done.
“I’ve always kept myself fit in the off season because I know how important it is, it’s a great base for the season. There’s no doubt about it it’s really hard graft but I’m looking forward to it.
“The running is always tough but you just have to get on with it. For me pre-season gives you a fantastic platform to work off for the rest of the season.
“I think you have to give it your all to ensure you’re on top of your game by the time the season starts.
“Some players like the running and fitness, some hate it. I personally don’t mind, it’s just one of those things we have to get on with as professionals.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing all the supporters again at the first games, I don’t look too far ahead but the fans were amazing last season home and away so I’m looking forward to that support again.
“I would just ask all supporters to really get behind us, like they do. Losing at Wembley makes me and everyone else even hungrier to get the job done and get this club back to the EFL.
“The bulk of the group has stayed the same with some impressive additions and it’s fair to say we have a great bunch of lads.
“It’s a fantastic changing room that I’m excited to spend another season in. Bring it on!”
