Josh Koroma previews League Two opener

Spireites winger Josh Koroma sat down with the media on Friday morning to preview his league debut in North Derbyshire against Fleetwood Town at the SMH Group Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Firstly, Koroma discussed how he has settled into his new club, explaining: “As soon as I got here, all the lads are proper sound, so I’m settling in quite well. The manager and I are getting on well. I knew Webby before I came here; he had me as a kid, so it was easy to settle in as well.

“I wanted to move here mainly because of the gaffer. I spoke to him on the phone, and he just sounded like a very positive, fun guy, and that’s why I wanted to come here and play. I’m happy at the moment. Training’s been fun, the games have been fun, and we just have to focus on tomorrow, really.”

Providing his thoughts on the competition in League Two this season, Koroma said: “I’ve seen our squad, and I’m fairly confident going into it with the squad we’ve got, the group of players we’ve got.

“As you saw last game, we obviously lost, but I think we played well. We had chances, but didn’t score. That’s on me and the attackers, and I mean, we’ll try to rectify it tomorrow.”

Finally, Koroma revealed his aims for the season ahead, adding: “My personal aim is to get back to having fun playing football and win as many games as possible. The club wants promotion. They’re never shy about admitting that.

“I wanted to play winning football this season. So ultimately, that’s why I came here, because the goal is promotion. I know we fell short last season, but hopefully I can help rectify that.”
