Neil Harris returned to Cambridge United for his second spell as head coach in February 2025 after leaving Millwall a couple of months beforehand. His first spell was short-lived as he only managed 14 games before joining the aforementioned Millwall. This time around, he couldn’t drag the U’s out of their relegation battle.

KEY PLAYER

Cambridge United will be looking towards players like Shayne Lavery to help mount their challenge back to League One. Despite missing large parts of last campaign, the forward still got on the scoresheet a few times and will be looking to add even more goals this term.

Last season in numbers:

Appearances – 15

Goals – 5

Assists – 4

Yellow Cards – 3

Red Cards – 0

Minutes Played – 1,005

PLAYED FOR BOTH

Whilst at Derby County, Tom Naylor was sent out on loan to League Two side Cambridge United. He joined the club in September 2014 and stayed with the U’s for three months. The midfielder made ten appearances during his loan spell.

In the summer of 2023, Naylor joined Chesterfield after leaving Wigan Athletic. He has enjoyed a hugely successful couple of years at the SMH Group Stadium. The 34-year-old has played an integral part in the Spireites’ 2023/24 National League title win and last season’s run to the League Two play-offs.

HEAD-TO-HEAD RECORD
