After being with Shrewsbury Town for 22 games, Gareth Ainsworth left the club to join Gillingham in March 2025. The former midfielder, who guided Wycombe Wanderers from League Two to the Championship, came in for the Gills’ last nine games of the season. So far, he has yet to lose a competitive game as the club’s manager.

In August 2008, Curtis Weston joined Gillingham on an initial one-month loan from Leeds United. That soon turned into a permanent two-year contract. In his first season with the club, the midfielder played a huge part in their League Two play-off win against Shrewsbury Town. He spent four years at Priestfield Stadium, making well over 150 appearances.
After an even longer spell at Barnet, Weston joined Chesterfield ahead of their first season in the National League. The veteran remained a lasting figure in the team for the next four years. He also played over 150 times for the Spireites.
