On Richard Hill

After a playing career that saw him play for the likes of Northampton Town, Watford and Oxford United, Richard Hill began coaching. He was assistant to John Gregory at Wycombe Wanderers and QPR, Brian Little at Aston Villa, Martin Wilkinson at Northampton Town and Andy Hessenthaler at Gillingham and Tranmere Rovers. He also had a stint as technical advisor to the Ethiopia national team. Hill has managed Eastleigh three times in his coaching career, winning the National League South title in 2014.

One to watch

Former Spireites loanee Paul McCallum has continued his impressive scoring streak in the National League into the 2023/24 season. The 30-year-old is averaging almost a goal a game for Eastleigh, who are one of the top scorers in the league.

This season in numbers:

Appearances – 29

Goals – 27

Yellow Cards – 9

Red Cards – 0

Played for both

Charlie Carter joined the Spireites ahead of the 2018/19 season and made an immediate impression. The midfielder suffered a few injuries throughout the season, restricting him to just 20 league appearances. His form was still enough to earn a move to Stevenage at the end of that campaign.

Injuries continue to plague Carter in the Football League and he moved to Eastleigh in the summer of 2022. He settled quickly in Hampshire and made around 60 appearances for the club, scoring ten times. In October 2023, he made the move to fellow National League side Dorking Wanderers.

View from the dugout

Danny Webb said: “They have scored 50 goals, but I think they have conceded the most goals in the league. As always, they will look at things they can punish us on.

“We will be looking to punish them in areas we can hurt them. It’ll be a long trip down there and it really will be a tough game.”
