The Spireites will be looking to bounce back from their 4-2 loss against Bromley on Saturday, as they take on Stockport County today (3pm), live on BT Sport. The players will have the support of the Blues as it’s set to be a sell-out at the Technique Stadium, and Paul Cook could also be boosted by the return of some key players. The gaffer could also be looking to ring the changes to freshen things up against the league leaders.

Paul Cook will be hopeful that Manny Oyeleke will be fit and ready to start. The midfielder featured on the bench last time out but didn’t get onto the pitch. 

Nathan Tyson made his first appearance in several months on Saturday. The striker made an impact when coming off the bench and could be in contention for a starting place today.

Akwasi Asante, Jim Kellermann and Gavin Gunning were all absent last time out and all three will be hoping to pass their fitness tests ahead of the fixture.

Meanwhile, Spireites fans around the world will be hoping that Danny Rowe is given to go-ahead to feature in the squad.

The club are a well-established club, and arguably one of the biggest clubs in the Vanarama National League. County played in the Football League continuously for 106 years until 2011, mostly in the lower divisions. 

The club fell down the divisions in the early 2000s after financial difficulties and was relegated out of the Football League at the end of the 2010/11 season, followed by relegation to the sixth tier in 2012/13. The eventually won promotion back to the fifth tier in 2018/19, where they have been ever since.

The team have played in blue and white kits since 1914; their original colours were red and white. The club is nicknamed “The Hatters” after the town’s former hat-making industry. Stockport have played at Edgeley Park since 1902.

This season, Stockport County are on track to gain promotion from the National League and regain their Football League status. 

One to watch

Paddy Madden is a well-established striker, who has a rich history of scoring goals in the English Football League. Madden has scored over 150 goals in his career, for clubs such as Carlisle United, Scunthorpe United and Fleetwood Town. The striker also made an appearance for the Republic of Ireland in 2013. The 31-year-old has scored 21 goals this season.
