Naylor signs contract extension

Tom Naylor has signed a new contract with the club, agreeing to extend his stay in North Derbyshire until the summer of 2028.

The 34-year-old joined the Spireites in 2023 and played an instrumental role in helping the club secure a return to the Football League. He has totalled 133 appearances for the club and has netted 22 times.

This campaign he has made 38 appearances throughout all competitions, scoring five goals. Naylor has also captained the side on 25 occasions since moving to the SMH Group Stadium

“This is where I want to stay,” Naylor told 1866+. “We’ve been talking about it for a few months now and I’m just glad we’ve got it over the line.

“‘I’ve been here nearly three years now and I’m just so happy to commit my future here.

“Being so close to home, obviously picking my kids up every day and just seeing my family, it was a no-brainer for me.

“We’re in a good position, very good position. We can just go and do what we need to do now from here until the end of the season to climb that table and then you never know what might happen towards the end of April.”
