New deal for Gunner Elliott

After signing his first professional deal at the start of the 2025/26 season, the club is pleased to confirm that Maltese academy product Gunner Elliott will continue with the club after signing an improved contract for the 2026/27 season.

The club’s second youngest ever player made his debut in the 2024 Boxing Day fixture against Fleetwood Town. He followed it up with his first start for the Spireites in last season’s Vertu Trophy fixture against Doncaster Rovers, as well as featuring internationally for Malta U19s and impressing on loan at Matlock Town during the 2025/26 campaign.

Whilst in North Derbyshire, the youngster has also racked up a number of appearances for Malta’s youth teams, frequently travelling into Europe to play in friendlies and qualifiers.

Committing his future to the club, Elliott said: “I’m absolutely delighted to sign a new deal and commit my future to Chesterfield. From the moment I joined the club, everyone has made me feel welcome and helped me to develop both on and off the pitch.

“This is a club with real ambition and I’m grateful to the manager, the staff and my teammates for the faith they’ve shown in me. I know this is the best place for me to keep improving.

“I’ll continue to work as hard as I can every day and repay the trust the club has placed in me. I’m excited for what the future holds and I’m looking forward to continuing my journey in front of our fantastic supporters.”

The deal is subject to relevant approvals.
