Friday saw the annual celebration evening in the Chesterfield FC Memorial Garden.
The event to remember Spireites lost since the start of last season appropriately took place just as the final lettering was being added to The Phil Kirk Stand. Memories of Phil were a big part of the evening, with a round of applause when it was confirmed the work was complete.
Two former Players, Keith Havenhand and John Meredith, were added to the Players Wall and more than seventy fans and people associated with the club were remembered as part of the celebration.
Two from an earlier age were celebrated when husband and wife Kevin and Sue Cousins collected the former players’ Legacy Badges for Harry Cousins and Charlie Bicknell. Harry was Kevin’s uncle, with Charlie being Sue’s great-uncle; the pair were teammates in the 1928 season! The couple’s son and grandchildren who joined them are related to both.
