The Spireites are back in Sky Bet League two action this weekend, making the short journey up to Rotherham United for a 1pm kick-off.
Paul Cook’s side come into this one off the back of an impressive and disciplined performance at Salford City, which earnt a 1-0 win courtesy of Lee Bonis’ early strike.
The Millers have had a difficult start to the season, losing in the Carabao Cup to West Brom, losing their league opener to Cheltenham Town and picking up their only point so far in a draw against newly-promoted York City.
In the Spotlight
Rotherham secured the signing of highly-rated EFL striker Paul Mullin this summer after spending last season on loan at both Wigan Athletic and Bradford City.
Mullin is most famously known, particularly by Spireites fans, for his stint with Wrexham, helping them achieve three promotions in three seasons.
Before that, Mullin had a successful season with Cambridge United, scoring 32 goals in League Two and helping the Us gain promotion.
Head-to-head
The Spireites’ last two meetings with Rotherham United have been in the EFL Trophy, in 2025 and 2017.
The most previous league meeting was back in 2013, in which hosts Rotherham were victorious as Johnny Mullins scored the only goal.
Most Spireites will always think back to 2011 when Rotherham comes up on the calendar. Jack Lester scored a hattrick in a famous 5-0 win, not long after moving into the currently-named SMH group Stadium.

“We’re two proper clubs. This is a proper game. It’s down the road, two big clubs and early kick-off and hopefully we can recreate the scenes we did last week at the final whistle.
“At Rotherham they give you that stand behind the goal, don’t they? So, it’ll be hell of a scene. All blue shirts, all Spireites when we come out for the kick-off.
“It’s important we back each other because I think you saw it at Salford and probably against here at Fleetwood and in the cup game away, we need each other. We needed them at Salford and they got behind us and got us over the line and we’ll certainly need them again tomorrow.”
