Spireites clinch signing of midfielder on eve of new season

The Spireites have signed Michael Jacobs on the eve of the new season, subject to FA and National League approval.

The 31-year-old attacking midfielder has an impressive record across a number of clubs in the EFL and has worked with manager Paul Cook previously.

His previous clubs include Wigan Athletic, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Portsmouth.

Upon signing for the Spireites, he expressed his delight at linking up again with the manager.

“I’m buzzing to be here and even more buzzing to be back working with the gaffer,” he said.

“He’s a fantastic manager and I’m looking forward to working with him again.

“It’s a massive club for the division and I’m here to help get the club promoted back to where it belongs.

“I’m excited for the future and I’m already looking forward to the game tomorrow.”
