Chesterfield held Championship side Sheffield United to a 0-0 draw in both sides’ second pre-season fixture in a well-attended match at the SMH Group Stadium.
The first big chance of the game fell the way of Sheffield United just past the ten-minute mark. A low cross from the left made it through to Patrick Bamford who sliced an effort wide from a few yards out.
Midway through the half, a promising run from Lewis Gordon down the left flank was halted by a late challenge from Femi Seriki who was shown yellow. George McEachran saw his cross from the subsequent set-piece headed away.
The Spireites were closest to breaking the deadlock a few minutes before the break. A long forward ball was headed back across goal by Junior Eccleston, landing in the path Dilan Markanday who saw his volley rattle the crossbar and back into play.
Moments later, Lee Bonis raced through on goal, eventually laying off for Josh Koroma who had a curling effort deflected behind for a corner.

There was one change for the Spireites at the break as Koroma was replaced by Trialist.
Paul Cook made nine changes on the hour mark. New signing Ruel Sotiriou was amongst those introduced.
Chris Wilder’s side looked to take the lead in the 64th minute when substitute Tyrese Campbell was played in behind, though he couldn’t find the target with a low left-footed effort that he dragged wide.
Sotiriou was involved minutes later when Gunner Elliott found him in space on the edge of the box. The 25-year-old opened up to shoot and his effort rolled just wide of the target.
Chesterfield’s best chance of the second half came four minutes from time when the ball fell to Luke Butterfield on the edge of the box. The midfielder let fly and saw his effort deflected narrowly wide on its way to goal.
