Spireites lose against Notts

The Spireites conceded two late goals as they fell to a 3-2 defeat to Notts County at the Technique Stadium.

Caretaker manager John Dungworth made one change to the starting line-up with Tyler Denton coming in for Milan Butterfield. Regan Hutchinson and Liam Mandeville also returned to the bench.

The visitors started off a furious pace and almost took the lead through Cal Roberts. The winger cut inside from the right and his curled shot cracked against the upright.

County took the lead in the 21st minute; Ben Turner headed a corner goalwards which Enzio Boldewijn eventually tapped home from point-blank range.

Chesterfield looked for a way back into the game and almost found an immediate leveller. The ball fell to Curtis Weston in the edge of the box and his volley forced Sam Slocombe into a smart save.

Slocombe was eventually beaten in the 33rd minute. Jonathan Smith received the ball on the edge of the area from Weston and the midfielder fired his shot across goal and into the bottom left corner.

As half time approached, the Spireites looked more likely to get their noses in front. Jordan Cropper tried to find the net from a tight angle, but Slocombe parried the effort out of play

The second half started out as a cagey affair with both sides cancelling each other out in the midfield battle.

The away side created the first clear chance of the second period; Roberts drove into the box before seeing his effort easily saved by Corey Addai.

Just after the hour mark, the hosts were presented with a golden chance. Tom Denton squared the ball over to Tyler Denton, who blazed his shot over the bar from ten yards.

With less than 15 minutes to go, the Spireites took the lead. Tyler Denton swung the ball into Tom Denton, who swooped down low and headed past the fully stretched Slocombe.

The Blues looked to hold on for dear life to keep their lead. However, in added time Ruben Rodrigues headed past Addai from a Notts County free-kick.

With less than 60 seconds to go of the three minutes of added time, the visitors stole a late, late winner. Kyle Wooton powerfully headed home from a Roberts set-piece to win the game at the death.
