The Spireites won successive league games for the first time this season with a 2-0 victory against Carlisle United at Brunton Park.
Dilan Markanday and Will Grigg scored either side of half time to complete a perfect week of three victories in all competitions.
Paul Cook named an unchanged side from last Saturday’s home win against Tranmere Rovers – Tom Naylor returned to the bench.
The opening exchanges were fairly even as both sides went in search of the opener, but the final pass was missing from the passages of play.
Carlisle created the first clear opportunity; Dominic Sadi cut-in from the left before seeing his curling effort tipped around the post by Max Thompson.
Twenty-five minutes into the game, Chesterfield took the lead. A lovely lay-off from Will Grigg allowed Markanday to march past a couple of defenders and squeeze a well-hit shot underneath the body of Gabe Breeze.
Armando Dobra looked to increase the scoreline around five minutes before the break. His shot from a tight angle was batted away by the home goalkeeper.
The hosts kept the ball well just before the half time whistle but saw a couple of efforts travel far away from Thompson’s goal.
Changes were made for both sides at the break as Georgie Kelly came on for Josh Vela for the home side. Jamie Grimes replaced Lewis Gordon for the Spireites.
Ryan Colclough tried to add a second for Cook’s side. After his initial free-kick was blocked, he took the ball down before seeing his shot hit the side-netting.
On the hour-mark, Tyrone Williams was forced off after suffering an injury to his arm. He was replaced by the returning Naylor.
Half-time substitute Kelly almost pulled his side onto level terms minutes later, but his six-yard header cleared the crossbar.
Grigg and Kelly exchanged chances at either end with both strikers not being able to find the net.
However, the Spireites would not be denied soon after. In the 76th minute, Dobra forced his defender into a mistake and the ball fell to Grigg who slotted home from close-range.
The second goal took the air out of the Carlisle fight back as the Spireites came away from Cumbria with the three points.
