coming away from the EV Charger Points Stadium with a 2-0 win against Cheltenham Town.
After a goalless first half, Lewis Gordon and Dylan Duffy scored to secure all three points in Gloucestershire.
One change was made to the starting XI that beat Barrow last Saturday, as Lee Bonis replaced Will Grigg. New loan signing Ronan Darcy was named on the bench.
Zach Hemming was the first goalkeeper to be called into action as he smothered Scot Bennett’s early effort.
Chesterfield had the majority of possession but struggled to create many opportunities in the opening exchanges.
The home side saw Ryan Broom and Lee Angol shown a yellow card by the 25th minute; Bennett and Ethon Archer would follow suit by the break.
Chey Dunkley glanced wide from Vontae Daley-Campbell’s corner on the half hour mark before Armando Dobra’s volley was headed off the goal line a few minutes later.
Dilan Markanday tested Joe Day with a 25-yard effort soon after. The goalkeeper parried the ball into the path of Dylan Duffy, who slotted home the rebound. The lineman’s flag cut short the celebrations.
Early into the second half, the Spireites would take the lead. Duffy’s low cross was brilliantly flicked towards goal. The effort came off the post and was bundled over the line at point-blank range by Gordon.
The goal gave Paul Cook’s side the confidence to look for a second – Markanday saw a shot blocked before Dobra fired wide.
On the 70th minute, Chesterfield won a free-kick 25-yards from goal. Kyle McFadzean and Duffy stood over it, and the latter curled his delivery around the wall and into the back of the net.
Hemming, who had had little to do from the start of the game, was alert to deny Jake Bickerstaff from close-range.
The visitors looked to kill the game off as Dobra ran through on goal. He looked to be upended in the area before the ball fell to Grigg; the striker’s goalbound effort was cleared off the line.
A minute later, McFadzean cleared the ball out of Chesterfield’s half. It soon turned into a shot that Day did fantastically well to tip over the crossbar.
The centre-back would come close once more to scoring as the clock neared added the 90. His back-post volley was tipped around the post by Day.
The full time whistle sounded after five added minutes to signal two wins out of two for the Blues.
