Teenage striker signs first professional contract

Academy striker Gunner Elliott has signed his first professional contract with the Spireites.
The youngster became the club’s second-youngest ever debutant when he played against Fleetwood Town last season and also appeared on the bench in the following match at Bradford City.
He also had a stellar season with the academy, scoring 14 goals including one in the FA Youth Cup against Shrewsbury Town.
Elliott has also gained international experience during the last 12 months, appearing for Malta’s U17 and U19 sides.
The 17-year-old was also called up to Malta’s provisional squad for their June World Cup qualifiers.
In pre-season, Elliott has impressed in fixtures against higher opposition such as Burton Albion and Nottingham Forest.
“I am delighted to have signed my first professional contract with the Spireites,” said Elliott.
“The first team and academy staff have been truly supportive. I couldn’t have wished for a better 17th birthday present!”
