Will Grigg says he believes the Spireites dressing room is one of the best he’s ever been involved with.
The striker joined the club in 2023 and has since made 51 appearances, scoring 28 goals.
“I can honestly say that since coming to the club, this is by far one of the best changing rooms I’ve ever been involved with,” he said.
“I’ve been lucky enough to be part of some great teams, but this is certainly up there.
“We had a great changing room last year when we won the league, and the gaffer is just fantastic at improving squads year on year. Honestly, the lads inside the dressing room are great, and everyone gives their all in training and on matchdays.
“Sometimes you can get a bad egg or a few people who aren’t bothered or whatever, but everyone inside this dressing room wants to achieve for themselves, for the team, and for Chesterfield.
“We have a great team on and off the pitch and I do think that is contributing to our success.”
The striker revealed his love for the club and also mentioned that his family enjoys watching him play here. He said: “It’s such a good club to play your football at; I love it here, I really do.
“Since the first day I came here, I knew it was going to be a place where I enjoyed playing my football, and that is certainly the case.
“The town, the supporters, the manager, the players, the backroom staff, the office staff – I could go on – everyone is just welcoming and striving for better.
“My family loves watching me play here too, which is massive for me. It’s a great club, and I enjoy playing here.”
Finally, he expressed his excitement for the remainder of the season and reviewed his performances to date, saying, “As a squad, there’s no doubt we’re transitioning and having to be patient with certain things.
“As the manager has said, we are in a transitional period, but the quality we have is evident. We have some incredible players stepping onto the pitch every week, and I’ve got no doubt about the capability of this team.
“I don’t see any reason we can’t push for the higher end of the table, but we’re all working hard to stay grounded and try to get a few more wins under our belts – which will come.
“In terms of my own performances so far, I think I’ve done well. Obviously, as a striker, you’re always wanting to score more goals.
“Even if I had ten goals at this stage, I’d want more; it’s just the nature of being a striker. As long as I’m contributing to the team and feel like I’m giving my all, then that’s all I can do.
“I’m excited to see what we can achieve as a squad this year.”
