Thrilling Cup-tie ends in draw

The Spireites registered a 3-3 draw against Championship West Brom in a thrilling FA Cup tie front of a sell-out crowd at the Technique Stadium.

A first-half header from Tyrone Williams and a brace from Armando Dobra secured the draw for the Spireites.

West Brom took the lead in the second minute when a cross from the left-hand side found Taylor Garner-Hickman inside the box, who laced the ball into the net.

The Spireites levelled in the seventh minute when a Jeff King cross from the left-hand side found Williams at the back post, who headed the ball home. The first goal the Baggies had conceded from open play since October.

Liam Mandeville came close for the Spireites with a curling effort from the edge of the area which went narrowly wide.

Karlan Grant gave West Brom the lead in the 17th minute after latching onto a ball in behind the Spireites defence and slotting past Ross Fitzsimons.

Mandeville came close to levelling after poking the ball towards goal, following a corner. David Button made a fantastic save.

Once again, Mandeville came close from a corner, flicking the ball towards Button, who managed to hold onto the ball.

The Spireites equalised in the 36th minute when King drilled the ball across the box, finding Dobra, who smashed the ball past Button.

Dobra gave the Spireites the lead in the 41st minute. Joe Quigley forced a good save from Button, Dobra got onto the loose ball and struck it into the net.

The Spireites went into half time with a 3-2 lead.

West Brom came close to an equaliser, following a goalmouth scramble, but King managed to clear the ball away.

Substitute Kabongo Tshimanga had a chance shortly after coming on, but his shot from inside the box hit the side netting.

West Brom kept up the pressure on the Spireites in the closing stages of the game, but the Spireites defended well.

Ross Fitzsimons made a fantastic save in added time to keep the Spireites in the lead.

Brandon Thomas-Asante levelled the scores for West Brom late in added time after heading the ball in, following a ball over the top.

After this well-earned draw, the Spireites’ attention will now turn to Tuesday’s away clash at Wealdstone.
