Trio step up from the academy

Ashton Rinaldo, who made his senior debut in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy tie against Manchester City U21 last week, is the latest player to progress from the academy to the first-team squad.

He joins Liam Jessop and Ali Mohiuddin, who both penned professional contracts earlier this summer.

Academy manager Neil Cluxton said: “I am delighted for the three lads who have progressed from the academy to the first-team squad.

“It is encouraging for youngsters to see the pathway from the academy to the senior squad here at Chesterfield.”

Rinaldo saved a penalty in the shoot-out success against the Manchester City youngsters. Jessop made his debut as a substitute at Crewe Alexandra while Mohiuddin came on as a substitute against Manchester City U21.
