“We’ll focus on ourselves and focus on how we can hurt them”

Paul Cook faced the media ahead of Saturday’s game with Grimsby Town and he began by reflecting on the away victory at Lincoln City in midweek.

“It was a great game,” said the manager. “I thought we played fantastically. We played some great stuff all over the pitch; it was so enjoyable to watch. I was really impressed with the lads.

“It shows how strong our squad is as there were lots of lads not usually involved in the league who didn’t look out of place against a strong League One side. It was a great game for us.”

Cook also reflected on the transfer window, saying: “We’re happy with the business we’ve done.

“We can still look to send some people out on loan, so that is still an option. Of course, the free agent market too, which is something we’ll keep an eye on for sure.

“Overall, I’m really happy and I think we’re a stronger squad than we were before and that’s what is key for me. It’s been a successful summer and who knows what this season holds for us.”

Finally, the manager previewed the clash with Grimsby Town. “They’re a great side,” he said. “No doubt about it, they’ll come here looking for all three points and to put a performance in.

“As always, we’ll focus on ourselves and focus on how we can hurt them. It’s always a great game between the two clubs. I’m really looking forward to it; it should be a great occasion.”
