“We’ll have to be on it”

Assistant manager Danny Webb spoke with the media ahead of Saturday’s big National League clash with Ebbsfleet United and he began by touching on the league table.

He said: “If it was one point or 22 points, we would still be treating all games the same.

“We’re so focused, so switched on and ready for every game that comes our way. We are desperate for promotion, that was the goal.

“We won’t rest until it’s confirmed and we definitely won’t be taking our foot off the gas. There are so many games left, we have to stay on it and keep going.

“It’s just been a normal week for us. We’re not looking at the table we’re just trying to win one game at a time and if we keep doing what we’re doing the promotion will eventually come.

“We’re fully focused on getting this club promoted.”

Danny also acknowledged the professional performance against Dagenham & Redbridge in midweek.

“It wasn’t our best performance of the season,” he said. “We got the job done and took away the all-important three points.

“I thought we played some real nice stuff at times in really tough conditions; it wasn’t an easy game for sure.

“We turned up for three points and went home with them and that’s all that matters; we will always look for things to improve in our performances.

“We conceded a goal and we weren’t happy about that but we will keep working to eradicate these things. It’s football; we keep working.”

Finally, Danny commented on Saturday’s opponents and gave a snippet of team news.

He said: “Ebbsfleet have strengths all over the pitch. They’re a strong side and will cause any team they come up against problems.

“They have some real threats and a great striker; we’ll have to keep him quiet.

“In terms of team news, Ryan Colclough is still out. Miguel Freckleton is back in training but whether tomorrow is too soon or not we’ll find out. Everyone else is doing okay.

“It’s going to be a tough game and we’ll have to be on it.”
