Chesterfield FC Women lost 4-2 at Belper this afternoon.
Belper took the lead in the 11th minute after their striker broke free of the Chesterfield defence.
An injury to Megan Breeze forced a substitution for the Spireites in the 23rd minute.
The home side doubled their lead in the 29th minute.
Steph O’Brien had the best chance of the first half for the Spireites, but her long-range effort was just over the bar.
The Spireites started the second half better, pressing higher and putting more pressure on the opposition.
This led to them pulling a goal back in the 47th minute when Maddie Watkinson capitalised on a mistake at the back before finding the bottom corner to make it 2-1.
Belper came up with an instant response though to re-gain their two goal lead.
The Spireites continued to fight back with Becca Boston having a shot on target which was well gathered by the ‘keeper.
Fifteen minutes later, Boston made it 3-2 when she was the first to react to Belper’s clearance from a Chesterfield corner and found the back of the net.
The Spireites went down to ten players when the referee ordered a sin bin.
Despite the Spireites pushing for an equaliser, Belper added another in the last second of the game to make it 4-2.
The Spireites next game is at home to Grimsby Borough on April 13.
