Eighteen-year-old academy goalkeeper James Sissons has been called up to the Malta U19 squad for upcoming U19 European Championship qualifiers against Northern Ireland, Czech Republic and Azerbaijan.

Malta’s campaign in the group will come to an end on Tuesday, November 18, with a final match against Azerbaijan, taking place at 10am (UK time).

All games are set to be streamed online – links will be provided on social media.

Academy PDP coach Haydn Hollis said: “We’re really pleased for James to be called up for the qualifiers. He has been in excellent form for the youth team and has put in standout performances in recent fixtures.

“We look forward to seeing him in international action after his U21 international debut last month against Georgia and watching his continued development within the academy that has been supported by his work experience loan to Alfreton Town.

“On behalf of all the academy, we wish James all the best for the international window.”

Gunner Elliott misses out on a potential fixture against Germany U21, as well as the U19 qualifiers, as he nears his return from injury.
