Academy head to Scotland for pre-season tour

A section of the academy will travel up to Scotland next week, staying at Stirling University and taking on several Scottish sides as they prepare for the upcoming season.

Six games are set to take place over three days, against Dundee, Dundee United, Hibernian, St Mirren, and Edinburgh City (x2).

As well as the fixtures, the young Spireites will utilise the state-of-the-art facilities at the university to undergo fitness testing as well as progressing their strength and conditioning.

Professional development phase coach Haydn Hollis emphasised the importance of the trip.

He said: “The training camp will give us an opportunity to embed the academy and club philosophy into the players, particularly the new scholars.

“Recruitment has been a key factor in our progression. Having the players for a week at one of the best sports facilities in the country will give us a real opportunity to instil the foundations into the squad for the season ahead.

“We’ve got six games against top Scottish opposition, which will be accompanied by training sessions, fitness testing and team bonding to set up another exciting season of development for the academy.”
