A pulsating game at the CopperJax Community Stadium would see the Spireites come away with a 2-2 draw against Bromley.
Michael Cheek’s 16th minute opener was cancelled out just before half time by Armando Dobra.
Chesterfield took the lead in the second half through Liam Mandeville, on his 250th league appearance for the club, before Chey Dunkley’s own goal.
Lewis Gordon started for his 50th appearance for Chesterfield in all competitions.
Paul Cook made three changes from last Saturday as Ryan Stirk, Will Grigg and Mandeville coming into the starting XI.
Nicke Kabamba tried his luck early on as he tried to catch Zach Hemming out. His audacious long-range effort was easily stopped by the goalkeeper.
A dangerous Bromley cross in the 11th minute was met at the back-post by Marcus Ifill; Hemming was alert to make an instinctive save.
Five minutes later, the home side took the lead. A free-kick eventually found the foot of Cheek, who looped the ball back across goal and found the far corner.
The Blues struggled to find a way through the stubborn defence and soon saw Vontae Daley-Campbell and Tom Naylor in the referee’s book.
However, the scores would be brought level with five minutes until the break. Grigg made his way onto the left-wing before finding Dobra with a low cross. The attacking midfielder took a touch before firing past Grant Smith for his fourth goal of the season.
Bromley started the second half in similar vein as the first, as they hunted for the second goal.
Ben Krauhaus and Cheek found Chey Dunkley and Hemming in the way; Kyle Cameron also lashed his shot over the crossbar from close-range.
Twenty minutes into the half, Mandeville saw his in-swinging corner clawed away from under the crossbar by Smith.
Soon after, Dobra’s lay-off found Mandeville, who rifled a low shot beyond the goalkeeper and into the back of the net.
In the 80th minute, a Bromley corner found the back of the net for an equaliser – the final touch coming off Dunkley.
As the clock ticked into added time, the Spireites won a free-kick 20-yards out. Berry, who came on for his second debut, got the ball over the wall, but couldn’t keep the ball under the crossbar.
That would be the final chance as referee Carl Brook brought proceedings to a close.
