Title: Deputy Safety Officer

Reports to: Matchday Safety Officer

Based at: SMH Group Stadium, 1866 Sheffield Road, Whittington Moor, Chesterfield S41 8NZ

Job Purpose: Chesterfield FC is seeking a dedicated Deputy Safety Officer to support the Match Day Safety Officer in ensuring the safety and security of all attendees at stadium events. This part-time, seasonal role is ideal for someone with experience in football safety and stewarding operations.

  Salary:   Competitive. Part-time seasonal 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for the following functions:
  • Deputise in the Event Control Room on match days.
  • Supervise stewarding teams and ensure effective deployment.
  • Support crowd safety planning and emergency preparedness.
  • Liaise with local authorities and emergency services.
  • Conduct risk assessments and post-event investigations
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and stadium policies.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Essential Qualifications & Skills

  • NVQ Level 4 in Spectator Safety (or working towards)
  • Proven experience in football safety and security
  • Strong understanding of crowd safety and public disorder strategies
  • Effective team leadership and inclusive culture development
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation for venues and events

Desirable Attributes

  • Public speaking (briefing) experience
  • Awareness of Equality Act and disability issues
  • Commitment to professional development
  • Familiarity with event technology and crowd safety tools
